I believe these were used in individual vs. team competition.  I am referring to heel-sighted Ross rifles that were used in the, "back" or, "toes forward" position.

Sometimes referred to as the "Creedmoor position".

To someone with arthritic bones, this looks like an exceedingly painful position to shoot!

Thank you for posting this.  Yes, I cannot imagine contorting myself into this position.  However, I suppose 40 years ago I wouldn't have had the slightest concern.
