The J. F. Harkom is probably a relation of Col. Harkom of Ross Rifle infamy.  Perhaps even his son?

An old alma mater of mine had a couple of very nice Ross MkIIs(?) when I was there.  One was covered in presentation shields all the way up the forend.  I should make a visit and see if I can get photos, but I believe they're locked away.

Rob- if you or others have any leads that might result in one of us actually getting sticky fingers on the School hardware, by all means try to get the top short walnut chunk off one (or all) and look for a Commercial serial. The rifles themselves appear to be Mk lls with Mk lll sights, AND added stamped long bases from circa 1911 Mk ll ** rifles. Can't make out the receiver sight, but would likely be an early Mk lll Commercial battlesight or perhaps a CanTool Commercial.
Were Admin asked politely, he may just post photos of his similarly-equipped Commercial Presentation Mk ll with Mk lll sight plus receiver sight- seems to me the Presentation was to a Yanqui lad surname Beck who attended Upper Canada College in Tranna- (snob-school alongside Ridley in St. Kitts where my brother lounged at great expense for some years).
In your wildest imagination, could you see any Canadian Private School buying and presenting Diemaco's version of the current M-16s today? Just a Catalog would bring expulsion!
Other Canadians plus self could likely tell outrageous stories involving Canadian schools and firearms back in the late 1950s-early 1960s. Likely no Statute of Limitations involved, so same are just filed away in rapidly-fading memory banks, never to surface-

I've added photos of another commercial MkII rifle.  Note, this one and the other one are not commercial MkII** target rifles:

Barry, thanks the tip re:SNs, which I hope others have noted as well!

The UCC example is a beauty indeed; one from your stable I am sure!
